supperclub

“There will still be things that machines cannot do. They will not
produce great art or great literature or great philosophy; they will not
be able to discover the secret springs of happiness in the human heart;
they will know nothing of love and friendship.”
Bertrand Russell
a montly club event for friends - and those who want to become friends (with art, with community, with life, with me - or others - or the world or everything at once)
what to bring:
bring whatever you want: your joy, your pain, your solitude, your tears, some liquor, some wine, some food, your stories, your open ears, your friend, your enemy, your silence, your love, your chair
this is an active performative gesture - against the coldness and solitude problem in this world. It is an active gesture against the (very german) incabilities to express their emotions or to open up in any kind of way - or give the other a home for their emotions and stories. Supperclub is a place for freedom. Also for your pain.
this is a possibility to be together to talk. Cellphone use should consist of a bare minimum (maybe take a picture of your food or whatever... sure) otherwise please close your cellphone - open your eyes, ears and your heart for the world around you.
come and talk - and be yourself. Or come and just say nothing. Just sit and be. Or you come and be the bartender/ess, share your talent to prepare food... mix drinks, tell stories...
supperclub takes place wherever I am in the world. Once a month. date is announced one week before via e-mail list (please register for mailing list via the contact window on this website) the only thing, that you need to bring is the ability to open up, to look freely at the world and the people around you. To loose judgement at the door of the supperclub and just be open to experience.
supperclub is (not yet) a place for high class cuisine) mostly there is pasta, bread, salad and wine. It is a place for communication - before everything. So please do not come with any expectations of a cooking performance...
the number of participants is limited. Selection process is always different (sometimes first come, first serve, sometimes alphabetically, sometimes random...)
sometimes the supperclub even emerges into the kitchen gallery (Hans Ulrich Obrists original idea) ... it is annouced seperatly.
this all stands obviously in the tradition of the “eat art” movement (Daniel Spoerri), Rirkrit Tiravanija - and of course Gordon Matta Clark, Carol Goodden, Tina Girouard - and Susan Harris and Rachel Lew, who founded the artist run restaurant in New York Soho “Food”
FOOD - Soho New York - 1970ies founded by Gordon Matta-Clark
